FORT MYERS, Fla. — Led by Pjay Smith Jr.'s 18 points, the Furman Paladins defeated the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 76-73. Garrett Hien made a jumper with 2:50 remaining to give Furman the lead for good, 70-69, with 2:50 remaining. Rahmir Barno's layup with 4 seconds left pulled FGCU to 74-73 before Smith sealed it at the free-throw line. The Paladins improved to 8-1 with the win and the Eagles fell to 3-6.
