ST. GEORGE — Charges continue to mount for an accused serial fraudster tied to several cases involving theft, deception and extortion, including the most recent case involving an elderly resident. The 80-year-old woman was defrauded out of more than $20,000, police said.

On Wednesday, Shandon Gale Young, 43, of Hurricane, was charged with one second-degree felony count of intentional financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

This is the sixth case filed against the defendant in less than two months, court records show.

The case was filed following an investigation into a report received by the Hurricane Police Department alleging that Young took payment for a job in August and then failed to complete the work.
