PROVO — After Kansas held BYU star forward Lauren Gustin to just 10 points and 10 rebounds inside Phog Allen Fieldhouse, the senior from Salem Hills admittedly took the rematch with the Jayhawks personally.
So, too, did Kansas' Zakiyah Franklin.
Franklin poured in a career-high 24 points, and Holly Kersgieter added 16 points and seven rebounds to help Kansas snap BYU's three-game winning streak with a 70-62 victory Saturday at the Marriott Center.
Wyvette Mayberry had 19 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Jayhawks (15-10, 8-6 Big 12) in their fifth straight win.
Gustin had a career-high 33 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Cougars (15-12, 5-9 Big 12), who got 10 points, six rebounds and two assists from Emma Calvert and a team-high six assists from Amari Whiting.
But BYU shot just 38.7% from the field, including 3-of-18 from 3-point range in its first loss since Feb. 3.
"That was a tough one," BYU coach Amber Whiting said. "We can't come home and shoot 16% from three. We had good wide-open looks; it's not like we didn't take good shots. We just need to knock them down."

Kansas made four of its first shots, and Franklin drained a 3-pointer in the final minute of the first quarter to lift the Jayhawks to a 13-11 lead early.
Gustin scored all 11 of the Cougars' points in the first quarter, shooting 5-of-7 while BYU went 5-of-15 from the field.
Kansas post Taiyanna Jackson — who had a career game of her own in a 25-point, 22-rebound effort in the teams' first meeting in Lawrence — was forced to the bench with her second foul early in the second quarter, and the Cougars rallied to tie the game at halftime 31-31 — thanks to a prayer from distance by Kersgieter with 17 seconds left.
Gustin had 20 points and eight rebounds at the half for BYU, and Franklin led Kansas with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
The Jayhawks came out of the locker room on a 6-0 run, but Jackson was forced to the bench with her fourth foul and her backup Danai Papadopoulou drew four to let Gustin continue to do her work.

S'Mya Nichols drained a 3-pointer two minutes into the fourth quarter to lift Kansas to a 51-45 advantage, and Franklin could not be stopped in the fourth quarter when she scored 10 of her 24 points.
BYU tried to extend the game from the free-throw line, after Calvert pulled the Cougars within 65-60 with 1:33 left. But Kansas hit five from the foul line as part of a 14-of-20 effort from the charity stripe to hold on for the win.
"Basketball is a game of adjustments, and we had to make some adjustments with the foul trouble," Kansas coach Brandon Schneider said. "Fortunately, we contested strong enough in the zone to get some rebounds and then we were able to come back and finish it in the last four minutes or so."
BYU is back in the Marriott Center next Wednesday to host former Mountain West rival TCU. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST on ESPN+.
