SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz's training camp trip to Hawaii will also serve as a benefit for the state's wildfire recovery efforts.

The team will travel to the island of Oahu for a weeklong training camp that will conclude with a preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 8 at SimpliFi Arena on Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. MDT.

The trip has been planned for months, but it has taken on a new meaning following the devastating fires that ripped through Maui earlier this month.

All proceeds from the preseason game will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, the teams announced Wednesday.

The fund will provide financial resources that can be "deployed quickly, with a focus on rapid response and recovery" from the fires. The wildfire that burned Lahaina has become the deadliest in the U.S. in a century. It has killed more than 100 people, with more than 800 people still missing.

"We are proud to work alongside the Hawaii Tourism Authority in support of its residents and provide continued visibility of ongoing relief efforts," the Jazz said in a statement. "The Utah Jazz prioritize community stewardship as a core value and are focused on showing the greatest care and concern for the victims of the devastating Maui wildfires. We are proud to partner with the Clippers on this trip that will be so much bigger than basketball."

The Jazz will hold training camp on the campus of BYU Hawaii on the north shore of Oahu from Oct. 3-7. The Clippers will train at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
