Black Desert Resort is making a name for itself in the world of professional golf. The southern Utah resort has put their stamp on both a PGA Tour event in 2024 and an LPGA Tour event in 2025. But for golf fans who can't wait that long to see professional golf in Utah, there's good news.

The Black Desert Resort Championship presented by Marcella Club is Sept. 7-9 at Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway.

This event will be a chance for Utahns to see the best up-and-coming professional female golfers in the world compete for the largest prize purse in LPGA Epson Tour history—right in your own backyard.

About the LPGA Epson Black Desert Championship

The Epson Tour is the developmental tour for the LPGA Tour. This tour is for professional golfers who haven't yet qualified for the LPGA Tour. For comparison, the men's equivalent is the Korn Ferry Tour.

The Black Desert Resort Championship will not only play a major part in determining which 10 golfers earn their LPGA card this year, but it also has the largest purse of the Epson Tour—a cool $375,000.

This record-breaking purse is $40,000 more than any other event on the Epson Tour and one step closer to closing the pay gap between men's and women's golf. The winner of the Black Desert Championship will take home $56,250.

This championship takes place just five events before the end of the tour, meaning that the top-performing golfers are close to advancing to the LPGA circuit.

"Our event is positioned in a great way, as the battle for an LPGA Tour card starts to heat up at the end of the season," championship director David Viveiros said. "There is a shared vision with ownership from the beginning to have the largest purse on the LPGA Epson Tour. Black Desert Resort's message is that we want to offer the best resort to our patrons, while at the same time supporting women's professional golf in an unprecedented way in the state of Utah."

Visit Soldier Hollow's championship course

Built into the mountainside above Midway, the scenic Soldier Hollow Golf Course has long played host to amateur golf events in Utah. The Gold Course has been home to multiple State Amateur tournaments, including the 2006 event won by Tony Finau.

Both the Gold and Silver courses offer challenging play and fantastic views looking down into the Heber Valley. Golfers and fans alike will get views of native trees and vegetation as well as a stunning look at Mount Timpanogos. The tournament's format will be 54 holes with a par of 72.
