Young Automotive Group is hosting its Wasatch Back Overlanding Expo from July 14-16 at the Morgan County Fairgrounds.
"We've loved seeing the growth of the overlanding community," Young Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Morgan's General Manager Colten Gittins said. "It's a lifestyle, and our goal for the event is to not only bring overlanders together but allow them to engage with vendors and experts to help them improve their current setups."
Overlanding — a self-reliant form of all-terrain travel — is a popular activity amongst the offroad community. Vehicles are accessorized with camping, survival and comfort add-ons to create the ultimate outdoor experience.
The expo gives more than 20 vendors an opportunity to engage with the overlanding community, allowing them to display products from 1-5 p.m. on July 14 and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on July 15.
Some Young dealerships are offering specials to attendees as well. Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton will have a 30% discount on parts and accessories for most Mopar vehicles. Chevrolet owners interested in purchasing a lift kit will receive 10% off their purchase from Young Chevrolet and Subaru owners will receive 10% off genuine accessories from Young Subaru.
The expo will also include special guests like Diesel Dave — who will meet with attendees from 6-7 p.m. July 14. In addition, Hinkley Overlanding will hold its Overland University training — a series of classes taught by industry experts. Sessions will occur at 9 am, 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on July 15. A first aid clinic will also be held at 1 p.m.
The expo will feature a variety of competitions as well, including a cornhole tournament and an overland rig contest.
Food, movies and live music will also be a staple of the weekend, with food trucks scheduled to arrive at 4 pm on July 14 and 11a.m. on July 15. Those looking to take a break from the expo can take advantage of the fairground's proximity to the Weber River and Round Valley Golf Course, providing tubing, fishing, trail riding and recreational opportunities.
Checkout is scheduled for 3 p.m. on July 16. A Blues and Brewfest will follow the event, starting at 2:15 p.m. and lasting till 7 p.m.
"The great thing about the expo is that there's something for everyone," Gittens said. "There's always something going on and something to do if you're looking for a break. If you've been a part of this community for a while or you're looking to get into overlanding, this is a very accessible event that provides awesome opportunities."
Attendees can purchase a day pass for $20 or attend the entire weekend for $50. For those looking to camp, spots can be reserved for $200.
The camping package includes either four adult tickets or one family pass (two adults plus children) and allows parties to stay for the whole event. Those planning to stay the entire expo will also receive a 30-foot-long vehicle spot as well as a tent area.
Early vendor setup will be from 12-5 p.m. on July 13. Camping check-in will start at 1 p.m. on July 14. Register for the event at wasatchbackoverland.com and use "EarlyBird" for 20% off your ticket.
