SALT LAKE CITY — For one week in May, the public was invited to adopt a pet from the Humane Society of Utah at no cost. KSL Classifieds sponsored the event, picking up the fees as part of its effort to encourage pet adoptions. In just seven days, 139 pets found new homes, an 18.8% increase for the month. That included 76 cuddly cats and 55 delightful dogs, as well as five bouncing bunnies, two charming chinchillas and one grand guinea pig. For more on this story, click here.
