THISTLE, Utah County — Flooding has closed U.S. 89 near Thistle in Spanish Fork Canyon, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

UDOT issued a traffic alert for the highway at 2:20 a.m. Monday, with no estimated time of reopening.

The southbound lanes are closed at the junction with U.S. 6 near Thistle, and the northbound lanes are closed at Fairview, around 25 miles to the south in Sanpete County.

Drivers should use state Route 132 and I-15 as an alternate route.
