ST. GEORGE — The Nevada Department of Transportation announced the milling and paving stages of construction on Interstate 15 by Mesquite would be temporarily completed by the Thanksgiving holidays.
The release from public information officer, Justin Hopkins states, "The final, open-grade paving will resume in April or May of 2023. Work will be done during overnight hours to avoid high temperatures. There will be work associated with the project completed between November and April, but it will not impact traffic flows on I-15."
With the holidays next month, the news of the construction temporarily ending until mid-next year will be well received by travelers between Southern Utah and Las Vegas.
Hopkins also announced no more ramp closures for the rest of the year. The last full ramp closure was the Bunkerville during the week of Oct. 3. There have been partial closures since then, including the Bunkerville exit, Carp-Elgin road exit, and the truck stop area at the top of Mormon Mesa by mile marker 111.
