SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz have signed general manager Justin Zanik to a multi-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Zanik has been a key member of the front office since 2013 (with a season break with Milwaukee Bucks in between). He helped the team grow from a lottery squad to a perennial playoff contender working under Dennis Lindsey, and has now started a rebuild alongside team CEO of basketball Danny Ainge.

"My family and I have fallen in love with this great city and the state of Utah, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey with the Utah Jazz," said Zanik in a statement.

Zanik said he has a "deep appreciation" for the partnership he has built with Ainge and owner Ryan Smith, and is excited to see that continue.

Zanik, a former player agent, runs the day-to-day operations for the Jazz. He was first brought to Utah as an assistant general manager ahead of the 2013-14 season. Zanik left for a similar role with the Bucks in 2016-17 before returning to Utah the next season.

He was promoted to general manager in May 2019, a position he has kept even with the departure of Lindsey and the arrival of Ainge as head of the front office.

"Justin's basketball acumen, ability to create meaningful relationships throughout the league, and management of our front office are invaluable assets," Ainge said in a statement. "We're thrilled that he'll continue to lead the team."
