SANDY — Real Salt Lake teased its latest transfer Wednesday afternoon by tweeting, "Did y'all know there isn't a moose emoji?" Minutes later, the club tweeted, "We got ourselves a moose," announcing the arrival of Danny "Moose" Musovski in a trade with LAFC.

It was a cheeky way of giving fans what they've been waiting days and weeks for: news of the first player addition to RSL during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old forward joins RSL after a two-year stint in LA, where he scored 11 goals in 52 appearances and also spent some time on loan with his hometown Las Vegas Lights. The Henderson native and former Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year played four years at UNLV before getting drafted by the San Jose Earthquakes in 2018.

Musovski did not make a single appearance for the Quakes, however, instead starring for the USL side Reno 1868 with 16 goals in 40 appearances. He signed with LAFC in December 2019 and had his best season in 2020, when he scored five goals in 15 appearances, including a brace against the Seattle Sounders in October 2020.

RSL sent $250,000 in General Allocation Money divided across 2022 ($150,000) and 2023 ($100,000) to LAFC for Musovski. Additional GAM will be relayed to LAFC should various performance and/or contractual milestones be reached by Musovski with RSL.

"We are excited to add a dynamic striker in Danny who provides an additional goal-scoring threat on our roster and fits into our style of play," RSL Technical Director Kurt Schmid said in a press release. "We've monitored him closely since his days in college, and we are excited to be able to integrate him as we enter an important phase of our season."

Musovski last appeared for LAFC on July 8 in a 3-2 win over LA Galaxy. He started the match but came off with a hamstring strain in the 43rd minute.

"I'm really excited to be joining Real Salt Lake, a team that I've gotten to know well during my time in Major League Soccer," Musovski said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to coming in soon and helping the team make the push for the playoffs."

RSL faces LAFC Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium at 8 p.m. MDT in a clash between Musovski's two most recent clubs.
