HUNTSVILLE — The body and the vehicle of the man accused of killing his wife on Tuesday have been found in Huntsville, according to police.

The car and the body of Scott William Russell, 53, were discovered off Highway 39 by a man walking his dog, officials said.

Russell's body was found in the driver's seat of the car with injuries consistent with that of a car accident, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.

The car was confirmed to be the one investigators said Russell was driving Wednesday, a black 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser. The sheriff's office believed at the time that Russell was heading to Colorado from Utah.

Russell was charged Wednesday in 2nd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony, and multiple other charges.

According to officials, after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Weber County sheriff's deputies were called near Huntsville on a report that Russell had shot his wife. The call to 911 was placed by someone who had spoken to Russell's son, who lives out of state.

Deputies who arrived at the house found the victim deceased with five gunshot wounds, said officials.

Weber County investigators are continuing their investigation into his involvement with the homicide, according to the sheriff's office.
