KANAB — A Utah woman was killed Wednesday in a head-on collision in Kane County while traveling with her friends on the way to Lake Powell.

Annikka “Annie” Jaramillo, 20, was in the front passenger seat of an eastbound Volkswagen Jetta with two friends when the crash occurred, according to Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Chris Bishop.

Bishop sad a westbound Toyota Highlander left its lane to pass a slow-moving pickup and ran into the Jetta head-on.

Jaramillo was killed, and the driver and a backseat passenger were airlifted to an area hospital, Bishop said. Two people in the Highlander were also injured, but Bishop did not know their condition.

According to a GoFundMe page* for a crash victim, the crash left one of the women in the Jetta in critical condition. A now-closed Facebook fundraiser for Jaramillo's funeral expenses raised more than $8,500.
