Fire in Sanpete County estimated at 600 acres; pre-evacuation issued in Big Horn Ranch area

The Big Hollow Fire, which began burning in Sanpete County on Friday, had grown to an estimated 600 acres by 7 p.m. and was only 7% contained, Sanpete County Sheriff's officials said.Additionally, pre-evacuations were ordered in the Big Horn Ranch area and search and rescue crews will notify people in the area — meaning those in the pre-evacuation zone should be prepared to be leave their homes with little notice.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Brush fire burning near Murdock Basin expands to 30-40 acres

A brush fire in the Murdock Basin area had grown to 30-40 acres by 6 p.m., fire officials reported. The Upper Provo Fire was burning on the east side of Mirror Lake Highway and its cause is under investigation.Crews had also begun asking people to leave from camps along Broadhead Meadows Road. Hikers and others in the area were also asked to leave.

New fire threatening 40 structures in Sanpete County

The Hollow Fire sparked Friday afternoon just west of Indianola in Sanpete County and is threatening 40 structures, state and federal fire officials reported through Utah Fire Info.The fire is estimated to be 25 acres and its cause is currently unknown.

Pine Hollow Fire causes evacuation at Stateline Campground

A large wildfire burning in far northern Arizona has now forced evacuations at a Utah campground near Kanab.The Pine Hollow Fire is mapped at almost 8,300 acres, state and federal fire officials said. It is burning grass and brush about 20 miles east of Kanab.The fire has forced evacuations at the Stateline Campground and officials are asking residents to avoid the area.In a subsequent tweet, fire officials asked residents to avoid travel on House Rock Valley Road, as well. "Fire managers thank the public for their patience and cooperation," they said, "as avoiding travel here helps keep firefighters and the public safe."
