LEHI — A mailman was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon after being pinned between two cars while delivering mail, officials said. The driver who allegedly struck the man was also arrested on investigation of DUI, police said.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon near 2300 West just north of Main Street, Lehi Police Lt. Toby Peterson confirmed.

The mail carrier was unloading packages into the community mailbox when a car struck him and pinned him against the mail truck.

The mailman was transported to Intermountain Medical Center with serious injuries that officials said were not life-threatening.

The driver of the car, 38-year-old Steven Shane Smith, was arrested on investigation of DUI. He was released to his spouse, Peterson said.
