OREM — Utah Valley has added another junior college transfer to Mark Madsen’s second-year lineup.

Snow College freshman Trey Farrer has signed with the Wolverines for the 2020-21 season, the university announced this week in conjunction with the NCAA’s signing period.

Farrer, a 6-foot-9, 235-pound post from St. George, averaged 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in 32 games last year at Snow College, helping the Badgers to a second-place finish in the Region 18 tournament to in-state rival Salt Lake Community College. A first-team All-Scenic West Conference and All-American honorable mention, Farrer will have three seasons of immediate eligibility beginning this fall.

“Trey is 6-foot-9 and the ultimate finisher,” Madsen said. “Opposing teams did everything they could to limit him, and yet Trey consistently scored in many ways — from the post to outside shots. One conference game, he went a perfect 14-for-14, not missing a single shot.

“When I first watched Trey in person, his motor really stood out. He’s got a V-8 engine, always ready to do hard work. Trey’s footwork is years ahead of his experience level.”

A former first-team all-state performer at Pine View High School, Farrer helped the Panthers to the 2015 state title and averaged 20.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 1.3 assists per game as a senior. He was the leading scorer in Region 9 that year, and also won his school’s Pursuit of Excellence Award.

Farrer joins BYU transfer guard Blaze Nield and fellow JUCO products Asa McCord and LeTre Darthad in signing with the Wolverines.
