PAROWAN — Police say a driver was looking at his cellphone and going 87 miles per hour when his pickup truck went airborne off I-15 Thursday morning, sending one passenger to the hospital.
The truck went off the northbound side of the freeway near Parowan about 11:30 a.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol. It was airborne for about 40 feet before rolling at least three times, police said.
The driver of the truck was looking at his cellphone when the crash occurred, with cruise control set to 87 miles per hour, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
A male passenger in the front seat was extracted from the truck and taken to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The driver and a woman who was sitting in the back seat were treated at the scene.
