SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Saratoga Springs Walmart was evacuated on Thursday night after a bomb threat was reported. Within hours, the store was cleared and patrons were allowed back inside.
Police were on the scene, 136 W. state Route 73, by 6 p.m. investigating the validity of the threat, along with the Utah County bomb squad, city officials said.
By 7:30 p.m., authorities had finished the sweep of the store and found nothing suspicious. As an extra precaution, bomb-sniffing dogs were used in the sweep as well.
Walmart staff were allowed to return to the store, which was expected to reopen to the public shortly afterward, city officials said.
The incident is under investigation and police were attempting to track the source of the threat made through phone calls to the store.
