BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Catholic church leaders in Idaho have updated their list of priests the church says were credibly accused of child sex abuse since the 1950s to include more details about where the clergy served.
The list includes 15 priests and one deacon who worked in Idaho since the 1950s. The updated list added one priest who was left off the list released by the Diocese of Boise on Monday, and corrects another entry for a priest that was previously listed twice.
Diocese spokesman Gene Fadness said that since 2002 the diocese has notified law enforcement whenever reports of child sexual abuse were made. He said the diocese doesn't know if police were notified of incidents reported prior to that date, in part because many of the people involved in the decades-old cases are now dead.
