ST. GEORGE –– A St. George resident was killed and another man arrested after an overnight altercation at the One and Only Bar in St. George.
Early in the morning on Saturday, St. George police officers arrested Bronson Joseph Flynn, 26, in connection with the fatal shooting of the 34 year-old man, according to a post on the St. George police Facebook page.
At around 1:23 a.m. on Dec. 29, police responded to reports of a man brandishing, and then firing, a gun at the bar, according to police. First aid was administered to the man who was shot, and he was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in an ambulance, where he died from his injuries, the Facebook post said.
The shooting was the result of a dispute between customers at the bar, according to a follow-up investigation by the investigations division of the St. George Police Department. It is not clear what exactly happened, but the altercation concluded when the man was shot in front of a neighboring business, police said. Witnesses said that Flynn pointed his weapon toward at least two others during the altercation, according to the Facebook post.
Flynn had been drinking alcohol, and was later also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police. St. George police arrested and booked Flynn into the Purgatory Correctional Facility on investigation of homicide, DUI, two counts of aggravated assault involving a weapon, brandishing a firearm during a fight, possession of a weapon by a restricted person, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Facebook post. Further investigation will determine what charges Flynn may face.
