SNOWBIRD — Italian cycling team Bardiani CSF took the top two spots in the Tour of Utah’s stage 6 Saturday afternoon.
Giulio Ciccone and Simone Sterbini finished 1-2 on the penultimate day of “America’s toughest stage race,” a 67-mile ride up a nearly 7,000-foot elevation change from the Heber Valley to Snowbird Mountain Resort.
Ciccone finished first in 2:45:38, followed by teammate Sterbini in 2:46:13. Neilson Poles of Axeon Hagens Berman was third in 2:48:19.
Robert Britton of Rally Cycling held on to the yellow jersey as the Tour of Utah’s overall leader, finishing fifth in 2:46:22.
The Tour of Utah finishes Sunday with the Salt Lake City loop, a 73-mile route that ends at 315 East Capitol Street.
