Man killed in Salt Lake City after struggle over gun

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The latest on a fatal shooting near a park on the edge of downtown Salt Lake City (all times local MST):

11 a.m.

Salt Lake City police investigating a fatal shooting near a downtown park say the victim was shot during a struggle over a gun after two men in his car tried to rob him near a park on the edge of downtown.

One armed suspect has been arrested. Police said Wednesday they still were searching for a second suspect identified as 18-year-old Anthony Glen Taylor.

Authorities found the victim in the car with gunshot wounds near Liberty Park shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. He's been identified as 19-year-old Sebastian Salgado.

Police say the two suspects fled on foot but they arrested 18-year-old Romeo Alvarez after he allegedly left his wallet in the vehicle.

Police say the two men met up with Salgado and his girlfriend outside the city to purchase an item being sold online. They say the two traveled into town where one of the men tried to rob him and a struggle over the handgun ensued.

Salt Lake City police have arrested one armed suspect and are searching for another in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager who was riding in the same car with them.

Police found the victim in the car with gunshot wounds near Liberty Park on Tuesday. He's been identified as 19-year-old Sebastian Salgado.

Witnesses told police that two men fled the area on foot after shots were fired about 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The Desert News reports (http://tinyurl.com/hphs637) an 18-year-old suspect was arrested Tuesday night for investigation into his role in the death. He was identified as 18-year-old Romeo Alyss Alvarez

Authorities with police dogs continued to search area neighborhoods for the other suspect. He's described as a black man, 19 or 20-years old, about 5-foot-11 and 120 pounds. He may be wearing a red shirt.
