ELKO, Nev. — A plane crash was reported about 9 p.m. Friday in Elko, Nevada.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer said a Piper PA 31 airplane crashed under "unknown circumstances" in a parking lot northeast of an Elko airport.

Pictures taken by witnesses at the scene showed a fiery scene.

Local authorities say four people were on board, but more details about the occupants' conditions were not immediately available.

Kenitzer said no one on the ground was injured.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are conducting an investigation.
