Convention Wrap up – Part 2

There are some very important things John McCain needs to do coming out of the Convention. 1. He needs to get his plans out there. He has spent a lot of time telling us what he is going to do, now he needs to tell us how he is going to do it. I know there is only so much he can reveal before the election without giving too much information to his opponent, but he needs to outline the steps he will take. 2. He must show America, especially independents, that a vote for him will not be more of the same of the last eight years. He needs to point out that the war cannot be finished over-night and pulling out without a victory only weakens America. He must continue to bring into the fore-front the fact that the surge succeeded and victory is in sight. 3. He needs to continue to exploit the fact that Obama has no experience while at the same time giving evidence that Palin DOES. Palin has executive experience in the real world, Obama does not. 4. He needs to remind Americans over-and-over, how he has already brought about change by working across the aisle. 5. He needs to reach out to the Hispanic vote by showing them he is their friend. In talking to members of the Hispanic republican leadership, I can tell that they know he can help them. However, Obama is reaching out to this crowd as well and clouding the issue. McCain needs to reach out to them and make them see what he will do for them. He knows the system is flawed, but also knows that immediate cut-off and deportation will not work. 6. He needs to reach out to the young vote. Palin can help greatly here. He can show young voters that he knows what he is doing and cares what they think. 7. He says he is putting Washington on notice that the establishment is coming down. He has to stand by that claim. He needs to identify what he is going to take on and change.

These are unconventional times and it will require an unconventional approach to campaigning in order to win. McCain must show America that he will not bring more of the same old ways.
