Springville 49, Salem Hills 14 — At Salem Hills, Payton Kelepolo scored three of his four touchdowns in the first half, and the undefeated Red Devils clinched the Region 8 championship with a road win over the Skyhawks.

Kelepolo opened the scoring on a 30-yard run on Springville’s first offensive possession, and added scoring runs of 80 and 5 yards for a big opening half for the Red Devils (10-0, 7-0 Region 8), who scored 42 straight points after giving up a first-quarter touchdown to the Skyhawks (4-2, 6-4).

Layton 24, Viewmont 17 — Taylor Katoa ran for 92 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in the final minute, to help the Lancers keep their hopes of a region title alive.

Viewmont (5-4, 3-2 Region 2) opened the scoring with a 30-yard field goal, but Layton (6-3, 3-2) responded with three-straight touchdowns to take a 21-3 lead in the third quarter on Katoa’s second TD run.

Viewmont’s Cortland George tied the game at 17-17, but Katoa snuck into the end zone with 20 seconds left to give the Lancers the win.

With one week remaining, five teams are tied for first place in Region 2 at 3-2 in Viewmont, Davis, Granger, Syracuse, Hunter and Layton.

The Hawks’ London Rockwood opened the game with a 92-yard kick return for a touchdown.

Timpanogos (3-6, 1-5) prevented the shutout in the third quarter, but Alta already had a 49-7 lead at that point.

Tooele 35, Park City 14 — At Park City, Michael Dunn scored twice to help the Buffaloes rally from a 14-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Miners.

Park City’s Spencer Zur opened the scoring on a 1-yard run, then tossed a 20-yard TD strike to Beau Pederson to give the Miners (4-5, 2-4 3AA North) a 14-0 lead at the break.
