SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A suspended University of Southern California football player charged with rape in Utah has bailed out and will make his first court appearance later this month.
Osa Masina posted bail Thursday night to get out of a Salt Lake County jail. Bail was set at $250,000.
His initial court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 30.
Prosecutors accuse the 19-year-old of sexually assaulting a woman July 26 after she passed out following a party the night before in a Salt Lake City suburb. Masina is also the focus of a sexual-assault investigation in California involving the same woman.
Masina is charged with one count of rape and two counts of forcible sodomy.
Masina's attorney Greg Skordas said Friday the sexual activity was consensual and that his client's version of events is quite different than the woman's.
