CRESTLINE, Calif. (AP) — Hundreds of homes are under evacuation orders and thousands are threatened by a surging wildfire in the San Bernardino Mountains near Hesperia. San Bernardino County sheriff's officials and the U.S. Forest Service tell the Los Angeles Times that 375 homes were under mandatory evacuation orders on Monday night.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 27-year-old Reno man has died from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident on the edge of downtown. Reno police said Monday they're still looking for the driver involved in Friday night's accident near Ryland and Wells.
STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — Nevada wildlife officers have killed a female bear that had been blamed for home break-ins in the South Lake Tahoe area. Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Chris Healy said Monday the 2-year-old female was shot dead July 28 following a confrontation with a homeowner near Stateline.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada is among 43 states and the District of Columbia expected to receive a share of a $100 million settlement in a case alleging that Barclays Bank improperly set key interest rates that affected payments on investments almost a decade ago. State Attorney General Adam Laxalt said Monday the national settlement with Barclays Bank PLC and Barclays Capital Inc. stemmed from the manipulation of the London Interbank Offered Rate, or LIBOR.
