WASHINGTON (AP) — A county official says Ellicott City, Maryland, resembles the set of a disaster movie. The historic town was ravaged by floodwaters Saturday night, killing two people who were swept away. Officials said at a news conference that up to five buildings have been destroyed and up to 30 more have significant damage.

BIG SUR, Calif. (AP) — A massive wildfire near California's Big Sur is entering its 11th day. The blaze, which has grown to 62.5 square miles, is threatening thousands of homes. Meanwhile, a much newer fire in Fresno County quickly spread, damaging homes as it more than doubled in size Sunday.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Police in Austin, Texas, are searching for a suspect in a shooting early Sunday that left one woman dead and three others wounded. Austin police say they want to question a 24-year-old possibly armed man in the shootings which took place in the crowded Sixth Street Entertainment District.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama heads to Atlanta to address the annual convention of the Disabled American Veterans organization. The president will argue that getting veterans the health care and benefits they've earned is a promise that "can't be broken." He'll also tout administration progress on reducing homelessness among veterans.

CHICAGO (AP) — Trampoline park injuries have soared as the indoor jumping trend has spread. That's according to a study that shows annual U.S. emergency room visits jumped 12-fold for park-related injuries from over five years. The study by researchers at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford was published in Pediatrics.
