PHILADELPHIA (AP) — As she sets out on her general election campaign after accepting the Democratic presidential nomination last night, Hillary Clinton is carrying an anti-Trump message -- rather than one aimed at easing voter doubts about her own trustworthiness. Clinton today set out on a three-day bus tour through Pennsylvania and Ohio, two states that Donald Trump is also targeting in the hope that he can make headway with blue-collar white men. It's a demographic that has eluded Clinton.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Attorney General Loretta Lynch has met with the children of a black man who was killed at the hands of two white officers in a struggle on July 5. Lynch called her meeting with four of Alton Sterling's five children and their mothers a "condolence call." She praised Sterling's family members for calling for "peace and calm" in the wake of his death. Baton Rouge is reeling from protests over the death, as well as the killing on July 17 of three officers in a shootout with a lone gunman angry at police. Lynch spent this morning meeting with police officers and first responders.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Michigan officials say four of the six state employees who've been charged today with crimes related to the lead contamination water crisis in Flint have been suspended without pay. The two others who are facing new charges had either already retired or were fired. Charges related to the water crisis were previously brought against three other public workers.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are ending mostly higher as the energy sector recovered along with the price of oil and tech giants Alphabet and Amazon turned in solid results. Oil and gas companies turned higher today as the price of crude oil managed to post some gains after a monthlong plunge. The Dow Jones lost 24 points. The S&P rose three points, but ended the week down after four straight weekly gains. The Nasdaq rose seven points.

McLEAN, Va. (AP) — A lawyer for former Congressman Gary Condit of California says his client is not a suspect in the death of Washington intern Chandra Levy. The statement comes after prosecutors have dropped all charges against another man, who once stood convicted of the slaying. In a statement, the lawyer said Condit remains "completely exonerated" in the death of Levy, who disappeared in 2001 and whose body was found in 2002 in Rock Creek Park. Condit, who had a relationship with Levy, was once a suspect in her disappearance, but police eventually cleared him.
