BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Supreme Court ruled that one of two brothers convicted of killing a Texas couple more than 30 years ago is entitled to a new trial because prosecutors violated his constitutional rights to a fair trial. In the opinion, the high court said prosecutors failed to correct false testimony during Mark Lankford's second trial and did not disclose that they had made additional promises in a connection to a key state witness

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho environmental group is accusing a nationwide plastic bag producer of violating federal laws on reporting toxic waste. The Idaho Conservation League announced Monday that it has notified Novolex, which has a plant in Idaho, that it must begin filing information to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's toxic-release inventory database.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Federal authorities say they've launched the first national system intended to prevent hobby drones from interfering with planes and helicopters fighting wildfires. The U.S. Interior Department announced the kickoff of the pilot project Monday. It uses smartphone apps already on the market to quickly alert drone fliers to temporary flight restrictions over wildfires. Officials say drones colliding with firefighting aircraft could be catastrophic.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The water levels of eastern Idaho's massive aquifer continue to plummet. To combat the troubling trend, state officials have proposed setting up an East Snake Plain Aquifer groundwater management area.
