Police on bicycles and on foot formed barriers to keep hostile groups apart as debates but no fighting broke out. Anti-Trump forces have scheduled an evening rally. Trump says the Cleveland police have been doing "an incredible job."

NEW YORK (AP) — Roger Ailes is out as chief executive at Fox News Channel. The network's parent company announced Ailes' resignation following allegations that he forced out former anchor Gretchen Carlson after she'd spurned his sexual advances. Executive chairman Rupert Murdoch will run Fox News and its sister Fox Business Network until a successor can be found.

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (AP) — The ACLU of Florida says it is "extremely disturbed" by the police shooting of a black therapist who says he was shot even though he had his hands raised and told officers he was not armed. The therapist, Charles Kinsey, says he was trying to coax an autistic man back to a home he had wandered from. Authorities are investigating.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been charged with capital murder in the death of a Kansas City, Kansas, police officer who was fatally shot while investigating a drive-by shooting. Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome Gorman says he filed the murder charge against Jamaal Lewis in the death two days earlier of 46-year-old Capt. Robert Melton.
