RNC platform needs simplification, some say

CLEVELAND -- Members of the Republican party are meeting already in Ohio, ahead of the Republican National Convention's larger gathering this month, in order to talk about the RNC's 2016 platform.

Among those on the platform committee is Sutherland Institute President Boyd Matheson, who says it's past time for the RNC to simplify its priorities.

The most recent RNC platform, Matheson says, is more than 1000 pages long. He'd like to see a return to something like Republicans adopted in 1860, at the convention that saw the nomination of Abraham Lincoln. At the time, the platform was a single page.
