DALLAS (AP) — Multiple media outlets are reporting that shots have been fired at a Dallas protest over two recent fatal police shootings. The gunfire broke out around 8:45 p.m. Live TV video showed protesters marching along a street in downtown when the shots erupted and the crowd scattered, seeking cover. There was no immediate word on whether anyone had been injured. Scores of police and security officers are on hand.

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the images from the aftermath of the fatal police shooting of Philando Castile in Minnesota show that the world has a long way to go in building a "more open and connected world." On his Facebook account, Zuckerberg says "The images we've seen this week are graphic and heartbreaking, and they shine a light on the fear that millions of members of our community live with every day."

BAGHDAD (AP) — The recent spate of sectarian violence in Iraq is stirring up the population. There's growing anger over the security situation and how the government is handling it. A massive truck bombing by the Islamic State group earlier this week in Baghdad killed at least 186. Late on Thursday night an attack carried out by multiple suicide bombers and gunmen on a Shiite shrine in Balad north of Baghdad killed 26 and wounded 52.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A man is in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder and other charges in attacks on four homeless men in four days in San Diego. The attacks left two men dead and two seriously injured. A San Diego police spokesman says a tip led investigators to 36-year-old Alexander Padgett, who lives in Chula Vista in the San Diego area. The spate of early morning attacks came on men who were sleeping alone. Two men were set on fire.

HOUSTON (AP) — A 25-year-old Houston man who was charged with misdemeanor obstruction of a roadway after stopping traffic on a downtown freeway to propose to his girlfriend is being given a year of probation. In a plea deal today, he was given deferred adjudication. That means the charge will be dismissed if he completes 32 hours of community service, isn't charged with a crime for a year and apologizes publicly. He did apologize in front of reporters.
