Valerie Castile tells CNN she thinks her son Philando was "just black in the wrong place." Authorities are looking into whether the aftermath was livestreamed in a widely shared Facebook video.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — There was a second night of protests in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where a black man was shot to death by police in a scene captured on cellphone video. Alton Sterling was shot early Tuesday as he wrestled with two white police officers outside a convenience store.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama heads off on a five-day, two-country mission to Europe. It's expected to be his last visit to the continent while in office. Obama will attend a summit of NATO allies in Warsaw. He will then go on to Seville and Madrid for his first presidential visit to Spain.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fewer Americans sought unemployment benefits last week. It's a sign that U.S. workers still have job security despite recent tremors in the global economy. The Labor Department says weekly applications fell 16,000 to a seasonally adjusted 254,000. The 4-week average, which is less volatile, dipped slightly to 264,750.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston cab driver who got a $100 reward from a man who left a backpack containing more than $187,000 in his taxi has been offered a free cruise. Royal Caribbean Cruises is willing to give 72-year-old Raymond "Buzzy" MacCausland and his longtime girlfriend a seven-day trip to the Caribbean, including airfare to Florida.
