SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police documents say a Salt Lake City train derailed because the operator thought he was supposed to go straight and took a curve too fast. The reports released by South Salt Lake police say operator Bryce Johnson realized the mistake at the last second and tried to pull the emergency brake, but the train nevertheless derailed.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Lawyers for a Utah repossession agent accused of forcing a woman off the road and killing her while trying to take back her car say they need more time to examine the evidence against him. The Daily Herald in Provo reports (http://bit.ly/29fyreG) that 49-year-old Kenneth Drew's attorney asked a judge for another month before scheduling an evidence hearing in the case.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Firefighters made good progress Tuesday battling a small wildfire in northern Utah that may have started by sparks from a train. Weber Fire District Marshal Brandon Thueson said Tuesday the blaze was 70 percent contained as of Tuesday afternoon. It burned less than 1 square mile in Weber Canyon southeast of Ogden on a steep, rugged hillside.

ORANGEVILLE, Utah (AP) — A woman has died after her all-terrain vehicle rolled down a hill in Utah. Emery County Sheriff's Office says the 65-year-old woman hit a curve while going about 20 mph down a steep grade in Cottonwood Canyon on Monday. The ATV then flipped and rolled on her, causing fatal head injuries.
