BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — Montana Tech officials have named Adam Hiatt, of Westminster College in Utah, as the next head men's basketball coach.

The Montana Standard reports (http://bit.ly/1R08nXH ) that Hiatt will join the Orediggers next season after the college fired coach Patrick O'Herron. Hiatt coached at Westminster from 211 to 2015, where he compiled a 73-48 record before stepping own.

Prior to coaching at Westminster, Hiatt began his coaching career at the University of Idaho.

Montana Tech officials announced in February that O'Herron and assistant coach Chris Cline would not have their contracts renewed for next season.

The Orediggers finished their 2015-16 season 8-22 record and lost nine of its last 11 games. They failed to make it to the Frontier Conference Tournament, finishing with a 3-15 record in conference play.
