INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Students are back in classes at an Indianapolis school where its principal was struck and killed by a bus after pushing students to safety.
Buses and cars drove past hand-written signs Monday morning memorializing principal Susan Jordan on the fence outside Amy Beverland Elementary School.
Authorities say Jordan was killed when a bus suddenly lurched forward as students were leaving Tuesday. Officials say buses were lined up outside the school on the city's far northeast side when Jordan and two 10-year-old students were struck. The students suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses say Jordan pushed several students out of the way before she was hit.
Jordan was remembered during her funeral Saturday as a loving leader who always put children first during her 22 years as the Lawrence Township school's principal.
