CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt says he's endorsing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president. The first-term Republican announced his choice this morning in an interview with conservative Las Vegas-based radio host Heidi Harris. Laxalt hosted Cruz and a handful of other candidates at his inaugural Basque Fry political gathering in August at a northern Nevada ranch.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — An American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York City was diverted to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas yesterday after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit. Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews told the Las Vegas Sun that the Clark County Fire Department found no fire or smoke aboard the plane, which made it to the gate under its own power.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have called off the search for two fishermen from California who went missing near Reno on New Year's Day. The fishermen were last heard from on January 1. Fire and rescue officials say the search will not continue unless there are new leads on where to look. Their aluminum fishing boat was last seen at Warrior Point on Pyramid Lake.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada has signed a contract with an Oregon computer manufacturer to get laptops in the hands of thousands of middle schoolers. Teachers and principals will get training this spring on how to use the computers as teaching tools, and students will receive a CTL Chromebook with a Google operating system next school year.
