ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Jimmy Gavin scored 19 points and Winthrop shot its way past NCAA Division III Ferrum, 81-63 in a non-conference game Monday night.

The Eagles shot 56.1 percent (32 of 57) from the field against the Panthers, hitting half of their 18 shots from distance, and were 8 of 11 from the line. No starter played more than 26 minutes and the team went deep into its bench.

Winthrop (10-6) built a 53-30 advantage by intermission and cruised the rest of the way.

Gavin was 7of 9 from the field, knocking down 5 of his 7 3-point attempts. Zach Price, Josh Davenport and Keon Johnson each contributed 10 points.

Josh Grimard connected on 5 of 6 from beyond the arc and finished with 19 to spearhead the Ferrum offense. Rashawn Speas added another 12 points.
