UNDATED (AP) — The way lottery officials tell it, there was a 3 out of 4 chance that somebody would win the Powerball jackpot of nearly $950 million. That's because they expected about 75 percent of the possible number combinations would be bought in time for last night's drawing. But nobody got all six numbers. The expected jackpot for the next drawing: $1.3 billion.

BALTIMORE (AP) — The driver of the Baltimore police van where Freddie Gray suffered his fatal injury goes on trial tomorrow. Caesar Goodson is charged with second-degree "depraved heart" murder. It will be his first chance to give his side of the story, since he's the only one of six Baltimore officers charged in Gray's death who did not speak to investigators.

PARIS (AP) — French President Francois Hollande and other dignitaries held a special ceremony today to honor all those killed in Islamic extremist violence around Paris last year. Hollande and the mayor of Paris unveiled a plaque in memory of victims targeted at newspaper Charlie Hebdo, a kosher market, a rock concert, cafes, a stadium and elsewhere.

FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — Italian police are questioning the friends of an American found dead in her Florence apartment. Authorities opened a murder investigation after the body of 35-year-old Ashley Olsen of Summer Haven, Florida, was found, her neck bruised and scratched. They questioned Olsen's boyfriend, a local artist, but have no suspect so far.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Some slept, some squirmed, some smiled and some screamed. And a few were named Francesco or Francesca. Pope Francis welcomed 13 baby boys and 13 baby girls into the Catholic Church today during the annual ceremony marking the day that tradition holds Jesus was baptized. In a brief homily, Francis urged the parents to teach their children the faith.
