DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Nine hundred million dollars. That's where the Powerball jackpot now stands, just hours before tonight's drawing. And if no one matches all the numbers, the jackpot is expected to soar to $1.3 billion. But with so many people buying tickets, the odds are someone will get it. The odds of winning on a single ticket: one in 292.2 million.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama, in his weekly radio-Internet address, is claiming credit for helping the American auto industry make a comeback. Saying "America can do anything," the president says he will talk about setting the country on "an even better, brighter course" during his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. John Hoeven (HOH'-ven) of North Dakota is urging President Obama to use his State of the Union Address to lay out how "he will unleash the creativity and drive of the American people." In the Republicans' weekly address, Hoeven says the United States needs to compete in the global energy arena "as a means of combatting terrorism."

COLOGNE, Germany (AP) — Women's rights activists, far-right demonstrators and leftwing counter-protesters took to the streets of Cologne, Germany, today. They were making themselves heard in the debate that has followed a string of New Year's Eve sexual assaults and robberies in the city blamed largely on foreigners.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The world's most notorious drug trafficker is back in the Mexican maximum-security prison that he escaped from last July. Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, head of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, literally walked to freedom through an underground tunnel that reached his cell. Mexican officials are trying to decide whether to extradite Guzman to the United States.
