PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The investigation continues into the ambush of a Philadelphia police officer by a man who authorities say told them that he was acting in the name of Islam. The officer was sitting in his marked cruiser at an intersection when the attack occurred. Both men were wounded in the barrage of gunfire. Police say the man used a gun stolen from an officer's home in 2013.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Salt Lake County district attorney says he will re-open the investigation into a fatal police shooting in 2015 after new video surfaced that appears to show the man on the ground when he was shot. The D.A. had ruled the officer was justified because the man was reaching for the officer's gun. The suspect was killed after he hit the officer with a snow shovel.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A law enforcement official says Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's capture at a motel on the outskirts of Los Mochis, Mexico, was related to an earlier gun battle at a house elsewhere in the city. That official says the drug lord may have been at the house and left while his gunmen and bodyguards provided covering fire. Guzman is now behind bars for the third time.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The latest solid jobs report could make it more likely that the Federal Reserve will again raise interest rates. Employers added 292,000 jobs last month, and the jobless rate stayed low at 5 percent. Steady hiring would reduce the supply of people seeking jobs, which could lead to higher pay and possibly help lift inflation closer to the Fed's 2 percent target.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah grandmother accused of leaving her meth pipe in her 8-year-old granddaughter's backpack has pleaded guilty to child endangerment and drug charges. Police say the 59-year-old told investigators she was smoking meth shortly before helping the girl with her reading homework and put the pipe in the bag by accident.
