RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Sectarian tensions are growing in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is severing diplomatic ties with Iran. It comes after protests in Tehran over the execution of a prominent Saudi Shiite cleric. The Saudi foreign minister says Iranian diplomatic personnel have 48 hours to leave the country and all Saudi diplomatic personnel in Iran are being recalled.
BURNS, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon sheriff says a group occupying a national wildlife refuge came to town under false pretenses. Sheriff David Ward says the men came to Harney County in remote southeastern Oregon claiming to be there in support of local ranchers, but were really there to spark a movement to overthrow the government. He's asking people to stay away for their own safety.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama plans to meet tomorrow with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss what actions he can take to reduce gun violence. He's expected to use executive action to strengthen background checks required for gun purchases, an approach that Republicans strongly oppose.
KINCAID, Ill. (AP) — The Mississippi River and many of its tributaries are retreating from historic levels. But residents face a daunting cleanup and recovery effort. The river is receding everywhere except the far southern tips of Missouri and Illinois, where crews this morning recovered the body of a second teenager who was in a truck that was pulled from floodwaters.
TOWN OF EAST TROY, Wis. (AP) — Police say four bodies have been recovered from a lake in southeastern Wisconsin. Authorities in East Troy say four people went out in a canoe around 3 a.m. Sunday on Mill Lake in Walworth County. A search began after friends noticed they hadn't come back. Mill Lake is about 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee.
