WACO, Texas (AP) — Security became tighter overnight in Waco, Texas, after a biker gang shootout that left nine dead and 18 wounded. Several motorcycle gangs were meeting at a restaurant to discuss turf and recruiting when the violence broke out at midday yesterday. Police say they're amazed no innocent civilians were killed as restaurant patrons scattered to escape the carnage.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Investigators are still trying to pin down what led to the deadly Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia even as passenger trains in the Northeast Corridor roll again. Officials vow the trains will be safer, and the curve where the derailment occurred now has an operating positive train control system for the northbound track that's capable of slowing a train even without an engineer's input.

BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union's foreign policy chief says she expects the EU to move closer today to launching a naval operation to disrupt a tide of migrants being sent by human traffickers on dangerous journeys across the Mediterranean. EU foreign and defense ministers are expected to agree to the action but sufficient ships and other equipment would need to be gathered.

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian officials say two wounded prisoners being moved to the capital from the fighting in the east are Russian soldiers. Military officials say the two Russians were wounded and taken prisoner near the front line in the Luhansk region. Russia has vehemently denied it is supplying weaponry or troops. Officials say the prisoners will face the media once they arrive in Kiev.

DETROIT (AP) — JP Morgan Chase & Co. is planning a reveal today of its plans to continue a $100 million commitment to helping Detroit's economy recover from bankruptcy. The global financial services firm already has put $34 million to work in the first year of its five-year plan. It is working with nonprofit groups and city leaders to address community development, neighborhood stabilization, workforce training, small business expansion and economic growth.
