ROOSEVELT, Utah (AP) — A man is dead after being shot by Roosevelt police officers who say he was wielding a handgun and acting erratically. The Deseret News reports that Roosevelt police and Duchesne County Sheriff's deputies chased 36-year-old Kevin Norton into a wooded area after receiving reports of an armed man near Uintah Basin Medical Center yesterday afternoon. Officials say an officer shot Norton after negotiations and non-lethal attempts to disarm him broke down.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Police are looking for leads in the shooting death of a teenager in Ogden. Investigators say they found 18-year-old Francisco Lopez on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds early yesterday. He was rushed by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 27-year-old man died after he was struck by two vehicles while walking on Interstate 215 in Salt Lake City. UHP officers say Dwain Rowe of Salt Lake City was walking in a travel lane early yesterday when he was hit by a Jeep Cherokee. He then was struck by a semi-truck, whose driver did not stop.

MANTUA, Utah (AP) — The tiny northern Utah town of Mantua has become known as a speed trap. KUTV in Salt Lake City reports that one one-third of the town's $649,000 in revenue last year came from the nearly 2,200 speeding tickets their police force dished out. Mantua is along US Highway 91 about 60 miles north of Salt Lake City.
