Louisiana Students of the Year announced in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The winners of the Louisiana Students of the Year awards have been announced.

The Advocate (http://bit.ly/1OMOSwX ) reports Victor Wade Rushing has been named the statewide high school student of the year at an annual ceremony Wednesday in Baton Rouge. Rushing, a senior at Live Oak High School in Denham Springs, is an accomplished piano player as well as the senior class and student council president. He is a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, and Future Business Leaders of America, among others.

The elementary school student of the year is Rhett Anthony Williams, a fifth-grader at Montegut Middle School.

The middle school student of the year is Ethan Laine Coker, an eighth-grader at Haynesville High School.
