RAELIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State's board of trustees has approved a two-year contract extension for athletic director Debbie Yow that includes a significant pay bump.
The extension approved Friday runs through July 2019 and raises Yow's annual compensation from $516,000 to $690,000, an increase of nearly 34 percent.
That comes amid the school's significant climb up the Director's Cup rankings of the nation's top overall athletic programs, from 89th in the season before her 2010 arrival to 26th in this week's standings for the 2014-15 athletic year.
Yow has publicly stated her goal of reaching the top 25. The school's best finish is 32nd.
In a release, the school says it also has the highest scores in program history in the Academic Progress Report and Federal Graduation Rate over the last two years.
The school last month launched a $35 million renovation of Reynolds Coliseum, the venerable campus arena that's home to women's basketball and other sports. Construction concludes this spring on a $14 million indoor practice facility primarily for football.
In a statement, chancellor Randy Woodson said the program has reached "unsurpassed levels of success, both academically and competitively" under Yow.
