TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A 73-year-old Oklahoma volunteer sheriff's deputy who authorities say fatally shot an unarmed suspect has been booked on a manslaughter charge and is free on bail. The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says insurance executive Robert Bates mistook his handgun for a stun gun. If convicted, second-degree manslaughter is punishable by up to four years in prison.

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a rare display of bipartisanship, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has voted unanimously to approve a measure giving Congress the authority to reject an emerging international nuclear pact with Iran. The bill is now likely to clear both houses of Congress. It's expected to come before the full Senate as soon as next week. The president retains his veto authority.

DETROIT (AP) — Federal documents show that nearly two years after agreeing to recall 1.56 million older Jeeps that could catch fire in rear-end crashes, the maker of the vehicles has repaired only a fraction of the Jeeps covered by the recall. Fiat Chrysler U.S. has fixed just 4 percent of the Grand Cherokees and 27 percent of the Libertys that were recalled. The repair involves installing trailer hitches to protect gas tanks in a rear-end crash.

Authorities closed a 100-mile stretch of northern Utah's main east-west highway. At least three trucks were blown over, causing one death. Visibility at the time was near zero, and other cars crashed into the wrecked trucks.
