SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A married same-sex couple says in a new lawsuit that Utah officials unfairly rejected their request to make both women legal parents on their child's birth certificate. Angie and Kami Roe of West Jordan say in the lawsuit that hospital staff refused to take their birth certificate paperwork in February, and Utah officials said one mother must adopt the baby as a step-parent. A spokeswoman for the Utah Attorney General's Office says the state is reviewing the lawsuit and didn't have immediate comment.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A lawyer for a Utah doctor convicted of murder in his ex-wife's death says he plans to appeal. The defense attorney for Salt Lake City pediatrician John Brickman Wall says he will appeal the guilty verdict handed down by a jury after a monthlong trial in a largely circumstantial case.

DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a Lehi couple that was reported missing last week has been found dead in an apparent murder-suicide. The Daily Herald newspaper in Provo reports that Milinda Wright and Gordon Wright were reported missing Friday night by the woman's father. Duchesne County Sheriff's officials say investigators believe Gordon Wright shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a store employee in Taylorsville was tied up and left in a back room during an armed robbery. The Deseret News reports that Unified Police say the robbery took place at a Family Dollar Store and the store clerk was able to untie herself and call police.
