CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Several Nevada Republicans are trying to scrap the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange launched as part of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. A Senate committee is reviewing a proposed a constitutional ban on exchanges. A separate bill discussed at an Assembly hearing the same day also seeks to abolish the exchange. Critics of the exchange say the system is using money inefficiently and say premiums have increased since the health care law was enacted.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Republican Sen. Dean Heller says he wants to take advantage of his new seat on the powerful Senate Finance Committee to reform the tax code without raising taxes. The junior Nevada pointed to a recent slate of companies moving to other countries as a reason for simplifying tax law. Heller was appointed to the Senate in 2011.

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say the 47-year-old driver of a Ford F150 pickup truck was questioned but isn't facing charges in a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Easter Sunday on a freeway in Henderson. The Clark County coroner identified the dead man as 21-year-old Roberto Orozco Jr. of Las Vegas.

TONOPAH, Nev. (AP) — A sheriff's official says a 39-year-old man who had been sought on an assault with a weapon charge in San Antonio, Texas, was arrested and injured in a scuffle with sheriff's deputies in a central Nevada town. A Nye County sheriff's spokesman said Jeremy Puebla was arrested early Sunday.
